This article was drafted by Loupi and Zorro there is a few weeks, before their disappearance.
On the occasion of Be The Change Day of January, Cathy Keisha wrote a very great article on the various ways to help shelters.
Claire donates regularly in cash, and by receiving the greeting card of Christmas of one of the shelters that she supports, she also received from them a list of examples of useful supplies.
We chose to share the list of SOS Chats Noiraigue here, because it completes well Cathy’s article:
- stamps and office equipment (black felt-tip pens, wrap C5 without windows, etc.)
- Whiskas ” Temptation ” and “Dentabits” and any sorts of sticks
- cleaning product for windows and bag of refill
- cleaning product for grounds in stone floor (*brand quoted)
- product of cleaning and maintenance for wooden furniture (*brand quoted)
- working gloves for the garden
- spray or foam for carpet
- laundry washing powder
- dish washing liquid
- household gloves, kitchen roll, toilet paper, refuse bags 110 L, mop with a side which scratches, rags, brushes and dustpans
- cat trees with sisal;
- benches and wooden or wicker chairs
- flashlight
- anything that comes into your head and which could be of use to cats or to maintenance of the shelter
Yup, the shelter near us is always in need of cleanin’ supplies and litter and whatnot, too.
Purrs,
Nissy
PS. Any news at all? I keep purrin’ and purrin’ and purrin’….
Yes! Lists are so helpful. Then people can see exactly what the kitties need, and sometimes it’s so simple! – Crepes.

that was an excellent list of things that all shelters need!
Just tweeted! It is sooo important to get the word out!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that paw photo!
This is a great list of things that shelters need! Thanks for the reminder. We’re still purring very loudly that Zorro will come home.
We wish with all our hearts that Zorro will walk in one day as if he’d never been away.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
And shelters are so glad to receive your donations. Don’t forget community groups who work with neutering feral cats, too. They need all the help they can get, especially now, kitten season.
We’re purring loud and hard for Zorro’s return.
The Florida Furkids
We volunteer at a rescue as we have time (lucky us), but if you can’t them giving things is equally vital. VITAL!
We hope with all our hearts that you have Zorro back soon. It must hurt your hearts with the worry. Come Home Zorro.
Marjorie, Harvey, Miranda and Silver.
We are so very worried about Zorro and are purring for his safe return.
You poor sweetheart… we’re sending you big warm hugs too.
love,

Great post and thanks for the shout out! After I wrote my article, I made a donation to A Call 4 Paws. There was cat food, treats, litter boxes, even a cat tree. The item she was most excited about was the bag full of laundry detergent. We change our sheets and they have to change the kitties’ sheets.
Having volunteered with a rescue, and worked in a cat shelter – I can attest to just how important the seemingly mundane items on the needed list are. I especially love the last item listed
Kudos to you for both your generosity and getting the word out about what is needed to help our homeless friends. Paw power!!
Thank you for blogging the change for animals,

Fantastic post – people often don’t think about these kind of items and how shelters could really use them!
