In one week, it will be the Swiss National Day. It takes place every year on August 1st. This remembrance is accompanied with outdoor brunches, with firecrackers firings, with Chinese lanterns processions and with fireworks. We also light a big fire.
We have a hearing clearly more developed than the humans (they are really handicaped, poor people ! Good thing they have thumbs to be superior to us in at least one domain) : not only the backfiring frighten us, but they can even ache for our sensitive ears; sparks can burn us seriously, and the waste of pyrotechnic machines can make us sick if we taste it.
Our friends hedgehogs pay so often one heavy price to this party by burning to death in stakes raised far too early. In the ideal, stakes for the fires of August 1st should be raised only that very day, and the wooden heap should be reorganized before being fired so that the wildlife which nests there can run away somewhere else.
Friends cats of Switzerland, we thus recommend you not to go outside this day. Stay in peace, in a quiet place (under the bed or quite different hiding place, it’s perfect). Ask your domesticated to close windows to damp still the noise, and to turn on the television or the radio to have a familiar and soothing background noise. Make sure of having water and food in plenty, some toys at arrangement to distract you, and wait the most comfortably possible which that spends. Your bean will maybe desire to stay in the peace with you : if it is the case, take advantage to spend a cuddles-evening !
Hi t here Zorro, good for you to get that cube for a little while. And just look at that cute kitten taking over the cube. That all sounds like good advice to stay inside during that holiday. The poor hedgehogs. Have a great day.
Yes, you definitely need to keep a low profile while the humans go a bit crazy!
That looks like a good place for Pixie and Zorro to stay during all the loud noises. This sounds like what happens on our fourth of July. Hope you don’t get too frightened and stay safe. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
This sounds a lot like our American Independence Day – noisy and unpleasant for kitties! I agree, staying inside is the only way to go that day. And geez, those poor wildlife critters – they can’t even make nests safely during that time!
This day sounds a lot like a holiday we just had here. Stay safe kitties!
pixie & zorro…a very good idea to stay inside; very much like 4th of July here….a few years back a coyote was running thru the neighborhood he was that scared and trying to find a place to hide from fireworks

Yep, this sounds like our 4th of July. All kitties should stay under the bed on days like these!
Dat sounds like ow July da 4ff and it’s no pawty fur cats that’s fur suwe. Wees hate it and wees tellin’ yous…..HIDE!!! Just run and hide and don’t come out til it’s all ovew. No mattew what they say. MOL

That sounds like VERY sound advice to us!
The poor hedgehogs! And mice and anything else that might try to nest in… Oh, I can’t bear to think about it.
Stay safe, my friends. Stay indoors and stay safe and you can venture outside another day.
Purrs,
Nissy
That cube looks safe and cozy. Purrfect hiding place if you ask me.
Sounds like our bonfire night in the UK and 4th July in the USA. BE CAREFUL guys!!
