Long weekend

This post is also available in : French German Italian

Yesterday, it was Federal Day of Thanksgiving, Repentance and Prayer. Monday is holiday too in the part of Switzerland where we live, and Claire and Momo took advantage of it to sort out in the house.

They reviewed every room high and low to pursue the out-of-service, cumbersome or useless objects. They filled two garbage bags, and objects in good condition will be given to their friends : teapot, small table, scarf, … First come, first served !
Zorro sort de la soupente
We helped them to inspect the last hidden recesses of the attic to be sure that they had forgotten nothing.

They then went to harvest pumpkins in the garden. Claire loves pumpkin soup, but if you have other recipes, she’s interested !

We think it is fun to help people clean.
There are so many places to explore when they clean 😉
Mom has not made pumpkin soup, but does like pumpkin pie !

Goodness, that is a great looking pumpkin. That sure will make a lot of soup. And that is a great picture. How about some pumpkin pie. I don’t have a good recipe though. Have a great day.

I love pumpkins too but not pumpkin soup! A great place to find pumpkin recipes is Pinterest. I probably have some on my food boards, or you can go to Pinterest and type in “pumpkin recipes” and get lost for hours!

The head peep loves pumpkin soup, too!

When we first started to read your post, we thought it said “Feral day of Thanksgiving” and were pretty excited about a Thanksgiving just for feral cats. Maybe we should make a holiday for that, too!

It’s good that your humans found some of their unused items that were taking up space and could be donated. As long as none of your toys went away.
    We like pumpkin pie.

My Master wishes to say this:
“As in English there are different words for plants of the family Cucurbitaceae in French. It is very sad to see tons of those wasted on Halloween night….
Now, ONE recipe for pumpkin, red kuri squash,, etc.
You’ll know in a minute why I write ONE.
There is a war here, in Savoy, between those who like it sweet and those you want it with salt. And my recipe suits both!
First I cook it in as little of water as possible. If you are not against microwaving it is perfect because no water is needed at all. But it takes quite long to cook 2 kilos! Pressure cooking is a good alternative. You can also cook it very slowily in a sauce pan, starting with very little water at the bottom.
When it is cooked, leave it to cool down.
I beat an egg (or more, depending on the quantity) with milk, or cream, if the scales read okay and the latest blood analysis is correct…
And now THE choice : sugar or salt?
As far as I am concerned it will be sugar definitely. A little sugar mixed into the pumpkin purée in a dish with a little more sprinkled on top to caramelize. You can add one or two vanilla pods. Put it In the oven for about an hour and a quarter, 180°c.
If you won’t like it sweet, no sugar but a little salt instead and cheese grated on top.
You can also put neither sugar nor cheese and every one will “season” it in her/his plate before eating.
The sweet dish can also be eaten cold.
    Bon appetite!”
