Claire and Momo had left for a simple walk when, in the bend of a way, they were taken in a whirlwind which brought them back to the Middle Ages.
We live very close to the magnificent castle of Aigle, and the Medieval Party takes place every year. Crafts, everyday life, period costumes, everything is made so that the visitor finds himself in the Middle Ages.
Our humans attend a presentation of falconry with alternately a buzzard, two eagles, an owl, a vulture, and even a condor of the Andes ! They also attended several demonstrations : artillery with ancient weapons, ballista shooting, dance, music, paper manufacturing, paint with egg, forge, lace creation, glass blowing, and more …
They saw some representations of cat, in particular on blazons. The cat had rather good reputation at the beginning of the Middle Ages (except with the Roman Roman Catholic Church), it was appreciated for his talents as hunter of mice and rats. During the XIVth century he has been associated with infernal worship : it was the animal of the devil and the witches. Thousands of cats were put to death cruelly between the XIVth and the XVIth century because of these superstitions.
Fortunately, our humans came back in time to the XXIth century to feed us !
That looked like a lovely day out at the castle. Cats had a terrible time in the Middle Ages.
What a wonderful and interesting time your humans had at the castle fair! So much to see! Isn’t it sad that back in those days cats were treated so cruelly. We are all so lucky to have humans who love us now as we live our lives being spoiled and loved!!!
Hugs, Teddy
I would have loved to be there! I’m particularly fascinated by the method of making lace, but suspect my husband’s top choice would have either been those bellows or that crossbow.
That sure looks like a magical and wonderful place to visit!
Wow ! Training buzzards or falconry ! Amazing – and sorta scary ! We have way more buzzards around here (NE Ohio) than any of those other birds !
Glad your folks got back safely by dinnertime !
What an awesome festival! I loved seeing the photos your humans took. I don’t have a passport, but I would someday love to visit your country. It’s truly wonderpurr!
Love, Dori
I have been to such events in the UK. They are lots of fun. Nice to be so close however, like you are!
Look like your purrsons had a great time!

That would be a lot of fun to see. I have a knight, he is just tin though, very light.XO
This sounds like a really cool event!
Wow, that all sounds like so much fun! Mom and dad would love to go to something like that. What a treat!!
Thank goodness they didn’t bring back anything EXTRA from that time period, MOL What a fantastic time they must have had, though the big birds would maybe be too much of a handful for little ol’ me to have. The glass blow and lace making looks amazing, two very different skills but requiring a skilled eye and patience.

What an awesome event! We are glad your humans came back to feed you, Pixie and Zorro!
What a fun day your parents had. We have medievil groups here also but they do not make crafts and sell them but this is an excellent way to fund the group for next year. Impressive.

Wow, what an interesting place to see. It is always so interesting to see all phases of history. The pictures were great.
that looks like it was a great time!
That looks like fun. We have a Renaissance Festival here but we have nothing cool like a castle.
Looks like they had an amazing time!
oh we love love love such events… the mama is a giant fan of all things medieval. but she is unsure if we will be well behived at such a festival…
So beautiful! What a fun outing you must have had. Good thing they were back in time for dinner! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous photos!
Some humans are still mean to kitties, but most of us love your furry butts! The medieval people were a hardy bunch, weren’t they?!?
looks fascinating! I might actually be going to Switzerland in a couple of weeks! Lac Vevey, Zurich, bern and Geneva!
OMC! That is beyond gorgeous! Our dream is to visit Switzerland for our 40th wedding anniversary. (4 years away) That lace is fabulous and how interesting to see how it was made.
So many things to see and do! hat weaving is incredible! I can’t even manage to knit – but that looks so much more complex!
That looks like it was a fun day. Glad you kitties weren’t there, not with those birds of prey.
I need a harnas…MOL
Great pictures and glad your mom travelled back in time to take a picture of you too, Zorro
